Questions answered
Everything people ask me before they book.
What to wear, how long it takes, when you get your images, and what happens if it rains.
What should I wear?
I typically tell my clients to dress up a little more than normal, but still be comfortable and be themselves. Avoid overly busy patterns as they can distract from your face. Solid colors are nice, but avoid overly bright colors like neons or pure whites. I also discourage families from all wearing the same exact outfit. Layers are your friend (jackets, jewelry, hats, etc.), because you can easily take them off or put them on to quickly change your look. For women, you should wear a little more makeup than you normally do, because it helps your features stand out in the images, and I typically like hair down for girls because it makes for more movement in the shots. A good idea is to go to Pinterest and look at portraits that you like and take note of what they are wearing.
How do I get my images?
I will send your images to you via email in a private online album, from which you can download your high-resolution images directly to your computer. I take great pride in never making my clients wait more than 2 weeks to receive their finished product!
How long till I get my images?
No more than two weeks from the date of the shoot.
Do you make prints?
Yes, you can order professional prints directly from your private online photo album. I’m partnered with a professional printing company to provide you with super high-quality prints at affordable prices. Or download the images and print wherever you’d like!
When is the balance due?
Day of the shoot. After the shoot is fine. Cash, check, or Venmo work great!
How far in advance should I book?
For weddings, the earlier the better. Popular dates in spring and fall go first. For portrait, family and engagement sessions, two to four weeks is usually plenty. If you have a date in mind, send it over and I’ll tell you right away whether it’s free.
What happens if it rains?
Coastal weather in the South Bay changes fast, and overcast light is often beautiful for portraits. If conditions genuinely won’t work, we simply reschedule to the next date that suits you. Your deposit moves with you.
What if we feel awkward in front of a camera?
Almost everyone says this, and almost everyone forgets about it ten minutes in. I direct you the whole way through: where to stand, what to do with your hands, where to look. You are never left guessing, and the photographs that people love most are usually the in-between moments rather than the posed ones.
Do you travel outside the South Bay?
Yes. I’m based in San Pedro and shoot across Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Long Beach and the wider Los Angeles area. For locations further out, just ask and I’ll quote it.
What areas do you cover?
San Pedro, Palos Verdes, Rancho Palos Verdes, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, Lomita, Gardena and the surrounding South Bay.
Still wondering about something? Just ask me. I reply the same day.
